Mariandynus was a son of King Phineus and his second wife Idaea, and a prince of Thrace.
History[]
Mariandynus was the son of King Phineus and Queen Idaea, his second wife, and was the brother of Thynus, Eraseia and Harpyreia. He was also the paternal half-brother of Phineus' eldest sons Plexippus and Pandion. Like his siblings, he was descendant of Poseidon on his fathers side and Zeus on his mothers. As an old man, he fought in the Trojan War on the side of the Greeks and was killed during the sacking of Troy. He had one son: Phenicus, who survived the war and made it back to Thrace. He was known as the hero of the Mariandyni tribe in Northern Anatolia. He had many sons, the greatest of them being Titias
His grandson by Titias was named Mariandynus in his honor.
